On or about Monday, January 18th, 2021, an accident between five commercial trucks, a snow plow, and four cars sent four people to the hospital. State Police Troopers said the accident happened in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 in Sturgis, South Dakota.
Authorities said four people were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck a snow plow, beginning a chain-reaction accident with four other commercial trucks and four cars. Paramedics treated four individuals for unknown injuries after the accident.
Police indicated that driver inattention may have caused the first tractor-trailer to strike the snow plow.
Interstate 90 runs through the center of Sturgis, which is located about 28 miles north of Rapid City.
Police expect to file charges in connection with the accident.
