On or about Monday, December 6th, 2021, around 8:15 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer, a pickup truck and a police patrol SUV sent four individuals, including a police officer, to the hospital. Troopers from the MSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 97 near the exchange with Route 32 in Millersville, Maryland.

Authorities from the Maryland State Police said an as-of-yet unidentified police detective and three other people were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of stopped or slowed traffic. The tractor-trailer allegedly struck a police patrol SUV and a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck. Paramedics airlifted the police officer, the driver of the pickup truck and the driver and passenger in the tractor-trailer to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 97 runs north and south through Millersville, which is situated about 19 miles south of downtown Baltimore.

State and local authorities assisted at the scene of the collision.
