On or about Saturday, December 18th, 2021, around 8:59 at night, an accident involving an oil spill or slick substance from a tractor-trailer resulted in several subsequent accidents. Authorities from the DPS said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 35 near the exchange with Bonnie Brae Street in Denton, Texas.

Police officers said four as-of-yet unidentified people were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly leaked or spilled oil into the roadway, causing a subsequent single-vehicle and a multi-vehicle accident. Emergency responders transported four people from the scene to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries after the accident. One of the victims had to be cut from the wreckage before they were transported.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 35 cuts north and south through the center of Denton, which is about 40 miles north of downtown Dallas.

Police are still examining the cause of the incident.
