On or about Wednesday, September 8th, 2021, around 9:35 at night, an accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer towing a boat left four teens dead and sent three other people to the hospital. Law enforcement sources from the area said the accident was reported at the intersection of Highway 287 and County Road 196 just outside Wiley in Prowers County, Colorado.

Investigators said four as-of-yet unidentified teenagers were killed and another was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the SUV they were in while they were turning at the intersection of Highway 287 and County Road 196. Four teens in the SUV were pronounced dead, while a fifth was airlifted to the hospital with unspecified injuries. The driver and passenger in the tractor-trailer were also treated after the accident, but it is not clear if they were treated at the scene or if they were taken to a nearby hospital.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from the Wiley city limits, which is about 198 miles southeast of Denver.

State and local law enforcement agencies are investigating the accident.
