Details:
On or about Sunday, December 5th, 2021, around 1:30 in the morning, a hit-and-run accident between a passenger vehicle and a pedestrian left one person dead. Deputies from the Angelina County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of North Timberland Drive and Paul Avenue in Lufkin, Texas.
Authorities from the area said 53-year-old Gabriel Garcia was killed when he was allegedly hit by a passing vehicle while he was walking near or made an attempt to cross the lanes of traffic at the intersection of North Timberland Drive and Paul Avenue. Emergency responders rushed Garcia to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. The offending vehicle fled the scene of the incidnet.
According to Google Maps, Lufkin is about 120 miles north of downtown Houston.
Police are still looking into the incident.
