Details:
On or about Tuesday, March 30th, 2021, around 10:38 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer left an 18-year-old Hays man dead. Police said the accident was reported on the westbound side of Highway 36 in Jewell County, Kansas.
Local law enforcement officials said 18-year-old Gabriel Rupp was killed when he was allegedly struck by a westbound tractor-trailer while he was unloading work equipment on or near the shoulder of the highway. Emergency responders pronounced Rupp dead at the scene of the accident.
Highway 36 runs east and west through the center of Jewell County, which is about 93 miles northwest of Salina.
Kansas State Police and Deputies from the Jewell County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the accident.
