Details:
On or about Saturday, December 19th, 2020, around 6:30 in the evening, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck left a man and a woman dead. Investigators said the accident happened on North Highway 287 near Burnett Ranch Road just outside Iowa Park, Texas.
Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said 88-year-old Gabriel Sustaita Jr and 83-year-old Patsy Staley Davis were killed when the pickup truck they were in was allegedly attempted a U-turn when it was struck by a tractor-trailer. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while another succumbed to their injuries a short time after being taken to a nearby hospital.
Google Maps shows Highway 287 is four lanes in the area, with a wide, grassy median dividing east and westbound traffic.
Department of Public Safety Troopers and local law enforcement responded to the scene of the accident.
