On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, around 3:30 in the morning, a serious accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 30-year-old man in the early morning hours. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 74 just outside Morel Township in Shelby County, Indiana.

Spokespeople from the Indiana State Police said 30-year-old Gary Oldham was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly lost control and jackknifed off the side of the road with the trailer portion of the truck protruding into the left lane of traffic, where it struck Oldham’s Emergency responders pronounced Oldham dead of his injuries a short time after the they arrived at the scene of the accident. Authorities did not mention any other injuries in their report on the collision.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Morel Township, which is situated about 20 miles southeast of downtown Indianapolis.
