On or about Friday, October 29th, 2021, around 11:50 in the morning, an accident between a school bus and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of a 19-year-old man. Deputies from the McLean County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported at the intersection of North Main Street and Summit Street in Normal, Illinois.

Authorities from the area said 19-year-old Gavin Lartz was killed when his car allegedly collided with a school bus that had just turned onto North Main Street from Summit Avenue. Paramedics rushed Lartz to nearby Carle BroMenn Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries several hours after his arrival. Emergency responders also transported the driver of the school bus to Carle BroMenn Medical Center with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, the town of Normal is about 132 miles southwest of downtown Chicago.

Officials are still looking into the accident.
