On or about Wednesday, October 7th, 2020, around 6:30 in the morning, an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 63-year-old driver. Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said the accident happened at the intersection of South Goliad Street and Mims Road in Rockwall, Texas.

Local police said that 63-year-old Gayleen Nugent was killed when their Kia Rondo was struck by a tractor-trailer that allegedly failed to yield while attempting to turn across traffic at the intersection. Paramedics pronounced Nugent dead a short time after the collision. The driver of the truck was reportedly unhurt in the accident.

Examining the intersection where the accident took place on Google Streetview shows that South Goliad is two lanes that run north and south, while Mims appears to be a gravel roadway that runs east and west. The intersection is situated in the southern portion of Rockwall.

Authorities hope to release more information at a later date.
