On or about Thursday, April 1st, 2021, around 7:20 in the evening, an accident between a pickup truck left a man dead and sent a woman to the hospital. Authorities from the DPS said the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 287 and FM 174 just outside Bowie in Montague County, Texas.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office said 72-year-old George Baker was killed and Adina Baker was injured when their pickup truck was allegedly struck by an 18-wheeler that was turning across the northbound lanes. George Baker died of his injuries after the accident, while Adina Baker was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Barry White, who was uninjured in the accident.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene of the accident to assist in the investigation.
