Details:
On or about Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, around 9:18 at night, an accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left one person dead and sent another person to the hospital. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along 82nd Street in Lubbock, Texas.
Officers from the Lubbock Police Department said 24-year-old Gerardo Rios Jr. was killed when he was allegedly hit by a passing motorist as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of 82nd Street. Emergency responders rushed Rios to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Officials identified the driver of the vehicle as 23-year-old Estevan Flores Jr., who was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is not far from the intersection with Boston Avenue.
Police are still examining the factors that may have played a role in the accident.
