Details:
On or about Tuesday, May 17th, 2022, sometime in the hours after dark, a major accident between a pedestrian and a passenger vehicle left one man dead. Deputies from the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported at or near the intersection of 82nd Street and Boston Avenue in Lubbock, Texas.
Officials from the Texas Department of Public Safety said Gerardo Rios Jr. was killed when he was allegedly hit by a passing vehicle while he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the lanes of traffic at 82nd and Boston. Paramedics rushed Rios to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of 82nd Street and Boston Avenue is on the south side of Lubbock.
Police are still working to pin down what happened in the accident.
