On or about Thursday, May 26th, 2022, around 1:34 in the afternoon, a major accident between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle left a 59-year-old man dead. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the Mopac Expressway in Austin, Texas.
Authorities from the Texas DPS said 59-year-old Gregory William Trippe was killed when he allegedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed. After the initial accident, Trippe was hit by another passenger vehicle nearby. Emergency responders pronounced Trippe dead a short time after the accident, but it is not clear if he died at the scene, or if he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is on the northwest side of Austin.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
