On or about Sunday, March 13th, 2022, around 5:45 in the morning, a serious accident between an SUV and an alleged wrong-way driver left two people dead. Deputies from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Interstate 635 in Mesquite, Texas.

Officials from the area said 41-year-old Halimatou Barry and an as-of-yet unidentified individual were killed when a Dodge Charger allegedly slammed into Barry’s Toyota Highlander while driving the wrong direction on Interstate 635. Emergency responders pronounced Barry and the driver of the Charger dead of their injuries after the accident.

According to Google Maps, Mesquite is about 13 miles northeast of downtown Dallas.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
