On or about July 25th, 2021, around 5:00 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a garbage truck claimed the life of a 66-year-old man. Officers said one person was killed when a tractor-trailer collided at the intersection of Burnside Avenue and Rockaway Turnpike in Cedarhurst, New York..
Authorities said 66-year-old Henry Owens was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the garbage truck as it was backing into a business. Owens was thrown from the vehicle in the crash and died of his injuries a short time after being rushed to the hospital. No other injuries were mentioned in the police report.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Burnside Avenue and Rockaway Turnpike is situated on the east side of Long Island in the Cedarhurst neighborhood.
