On or about Wednesday, January 12th, 2022, around 2:24 in the morning, a serious accident between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck towing a trailer left a 39-year-old Lubbock man dead. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along State Highway 349 just outside Stanton in Martin County, Texas.
Texas DPS representatives said 39-year-old Ian Guy Smith was killed when the pickup truck towing a trailer he was driving allegedly crossed over the center line of Highway 349 and struck a tractor-trailer in the oncoming lanes of the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced Smith dead of his injuries after the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 39 miles north of Stanton, which is roughly 106 miles south of Lubbock.
