On or about Tuesday, February 22nd, 2022, around 9:00 in the morning, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a farm tractor left one individual dead. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 82 just outside Petty in Lamar County, Texas.
Officials from the Texas DPS said 38-year-old Jake T. Rempel was killed when the vehicle he was driving allegedly struck the back of a farm tractor along Highway 82. Emergency responders pronounced Rempel dead of the injuries he sustained when he was ejected from the vehicle in the accident. Authorities identified the driver of the farm tractor as James E. Christy, who was taken to the hospital.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Petty, which is roughly 95 miles northeast of downtown Dallas.
