On or about Wednesday, January 5th, 2022, around 7:14 in the morning, a serious accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 26-year-old Jefferson County woman and sent a Lincoln County man to the hospital. Authorities from the ASP said the accident was reported along Highway 270 in rural Hot Spring County, Arkansas.

Troopers from the Arkansas State Police said 26-year-old Jalyn Mayweathers was killed and 31-year-old Rashad Nalls was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly swerved into the path of the vehicle Nalls was driving as they were attempting a pass on Highway 270. Emergency responders pronounced Mayweathers dead of her injuries after the collision, while Nalls was transported by EMS to CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs with injuries of an unknown nature or severity.

According to Google Maps, Highway 270 winds east and west through Hot Spring County, which is about 54 miles southwest of downtown Little Rock.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
