On or about Tuesday, January 4th, 2022, sometime in the afternoon hours, an accident between a pickup truck and three tractor-trailers claimed the life of a 64-year-old Rock Hill man and sent another individual to the hospital. Troopers from the SCHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 85 just outside Blaskburg in Cherokee County, South Carolina.

Spokespeople from the South Carolina Highway Patrol said 64-year-old James Arthur Fuelling was killed and another as-of-yet unidentified individual was injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly struck the back of a pickup truck they were in, pushing the pickup truck into the rear of another 18-wheeler. After the initial impact, the initial tractor-trailer struck a third semi truck nearby. Emergency responders pronounced Fuelling dead of his injuries a short time after the accident, while the driver of the pickup truck was taken to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. None of the tractor-trailer drivers were injured in the incident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Blacksburg, which is about 46 miles west of downtown Charlotte, North Carolina.
