On or about Monday, November 8th, 2021, around 2:24 in the afternoon, a major accident between a tractor-trailer and a disabled truck towing a horse trailer left a 65-year-old Delaware man dead. Troopers from the OSHP said the accident was reported along the northbound side of Interstate 71 just outside Mansfield in Richland County, Ohio.

Law enforcement representatives said 65-year-old James Covrett was killed when a tractor-trailer allegedly veered off the side of the road and struck him while he was changing the tire on a horse trailer on the side of I-71. Emergency responders pronounced Covrett dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Paulo Dasilva, who was unhurt in the collision.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 71 runs north and south through Richland County, which is about 80 miles southwest of downtown Cleveland.

Officials are still looking into the accident.
