On or about Saturday, January 1st, 2022, a head-on accident between a tractor-trailer and a suspected wrong-way driver claimed the life of a 36-year-old man from Shamrock. Spokespeople from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along the eastbound side of Interstate 20 just outside Lindale in Smith County, Texas.

Investigators said 36-year-old James Franklin Morgan was killed when the passenger vehicle he was driving allegedly collided head-on with a tractor-trailer as Morgan was driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-20. Paramedics pronounced Morgan dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived. The as-of-yet unidentified driver of the tractor-trailer was treated for unspecified injuries at the scene.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is a short distance from Lindale, which is located roughly 88 miles east of downtown Dallas.

Police are still investigating the accident.
