On or about Thursday, October 21st, 2021, around 2:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car left a 65-year-old man dead. Troopers from the OSHP said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 480 in Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Deputies from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office said 65-year-old James Hess was killed when his car was allegedly struck by a tractor-trailer after he had spun out in the westbound lanes of I-480. Emergency responders pronounced Hess dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene. Police did not mention any other injuries in their preliminary statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 480 runs east and west through Garfield Heights, which is about 9 miles south of downtown Cleveland.

Police are still investigating the accident.
