Details:

On or about Monday ,January 31st, 2022, around 5:00 in the morning, an accident between an SUV and an ambulance claimed the life of a 29-year-old Honey Island, Texas resident and sent two other people to the hospital. Troopers from the LSP said the accident was reported along the westbound side of Interstate 20 near Tarbutton Road in Ruston, Louisiana.

Authorities from the area said 29-year-old James Hvamstad was killed and his passenger was injured when an ambulance allegedly struck the back of the Jeep they were in as they were driving on I-20. Emergency responders pronounced Hvamstad dead a short time after the collision, while his passenger was transported by EMS to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries. A passenger in the ambulance was also transported to a hospital for treatment.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 cuts east and west through Ruston, which is about 69 miles east of downtown Shreveport.

Police are still investigating the accident.
