On or about Monday, June 6th, 2022, around 12:26 in the afternoon, a serious accident with a tractor-trailer and a train sent two men to the hospital. Troopers from the KSP said the accident was reported along Merchant Street in Emporia, Kansas.
Troopers from the Kansas State Police said 66-year-old James Covington and 69-year-old Lyle Covington were injured when the tractor-trailer they were in was allegedly hit by a train on Merchant Street. Paramedics transported James and Lyle Covington to the hospital with injuries of an unspecified nature or severity stemming from the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is in the 300 block of Merchant Street.
Officials are still investigating.
