On or about Monday, April 4th, 2022, around 8:30 in the morning, a major tractor-trailer accident claimed the life of a 52-year-old man. Representatives from the LSP said the accident was reported at the intersection of U.S. Highway 90 and Bayou Gauche Road in Paridis, Louisiana.
Officials from the Louisiana State Police said 52-year-old Jason Gilbert was killed when the cab of the tractor-trailer he was driving was allegedly penetrated by the load after the straps broke as the truck was coming to a stop at the red light. Paramedics pronounced Gilbert dead of his injuries a short time after they responded to the scene of the accident.
According to Google Maps, Paridis is about 29 miles west of downtown Paridis.
Multiple agencies responded to the scene to assist.
