On or about Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, around 7:20 in the morning, a major two-vehicle accident between a tractor-trailer and two passenger vehicles left a 46-year-old man dead. Officials from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Interstate 20 just outside Merkel in Taylor County, Texas.
Investigators from the Texas DPS said 46-year-old Jason Kuebler was killed when his vehicle was allegedly struck from behind by another car and was subsequently pushed into the back of a nearby tractor-trailer on I-20. Emergency responders pronounced Kuebler dead of his injuries following the collision.
According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 cuts east and west along the northern edge of Merkel.
State and local law enforcement officials assisted after the accident.
