On or about Saturday, November 6th, 2021, around 3:15 in the afternoon, an accident between a truck towing a trailer and a pedestrian claimed the life of a 64-year-old man. Local law enforcement representatives said the accident was reported at a bus stop at or near the intersection of 16th Street and Southern Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona.

Authorities said 64-year-old Javier Saavedra was killed when he was allegedly struck by a pickup truck towing a trailer as he was waiting at a bus stop near the intersection of Southern Avenue and 16th Street. Paramedics pronounced Saavedra dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene. Police did not mention any other injuries in their initial statement on the accident.

According to Google Maps, the intersection of 16th Street and Southern Avenue is situated a short distance south of downtown Phoenix.

Police are still working to pin down the cause of the accident.
