On or about Wednesday, January 26th, 2022, around 11:55 in the morning, an accident between a pedestrian and a delivery truck left a 62-year-old man dead. Authorities from the WSP said the accident was reported in the 300 block of West Washington Avenue in downtown Madison, Wisconsin.
Deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Department said 62-year-old Jay Ringelstetter was killed when he was allegedly struck by a passing delivery truck as he was picking up litter along West Washington Avenue. Paramedics rushed Ringelstetter to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is in the heart of downtown Madison.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
