On or about Thursday, January 13th, 2022, a major accident between an SUV and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of an 88-year-old Grand Saline woman. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 80 just outside Mineola in Wood County, Texas.
Law enforcement spokespeople said 88-year-old Jeanene R. Upton was killed when the SUV she was driving allegedly struck the back of a tractor-trailer on Highway 80. Paramedics rushed Upton to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries on February 1st, 2022. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Damon Garner, who was unhurt in the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about five miles west of Mineola, which is roughly 86 miles southeast of downtown Dallas.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
