Details:
On or about Friday, June 10th, 2022, around 12:28 in the morning, a serious motorcycle accident with a pickup truck left one man dead. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Oaks Drive and West Slaughter Lane in Austin, Texas.
Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said Jedd Bennett was killed when the motorcycle he was on was allegedly hit by a turning pickup truck at Oaks Drive and West Slaughter Lane. Emergency responders pronounced Bennett dead of his injuries a short time after the accident.
Authorities have since identified the driver of the pickup truck as Jose Rangel Mendez, who has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the intersection of Oaks Drive and West Slaughter Lane is on the south side of Austin.
Officials are still investigating the accident.
