Jeffery Clifton was killed mid-afternoon on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, after striking a tractor-trailer head-on while driving on Gateway Drive. Clifton, a 64-year-old native of Landrum, SC, was taken to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he would later be pronounced dead. South Carolina Highway Patrol stated the driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured, and the accident is under investigation.
