Details:
On or about Wednesday, October 14th, 2020, around 7:30 in the morning, an accident between a flatbed truck and an SUV claimed the life of one man and sent another to the hospital. The accident happened on State Highway 155 near Winona, Texas.
Deputies from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office said that 36-year-old Jeffrey Dale Jones was killed when the GMC Acadia he was driving allegedly veered from the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes where it struck a flatbed truck driven by 43-year-old Christopher Lee Bundrant.
Jones was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics transported Bundrant to nearby UT-Health- Tyler Hospital where he was last reported in serious condition.
A look at the area on Google Maps shows that State Highway 155 runs north and south between Big Sandy and Winona, which is located roughly 13 miles northeast of Tyler.
Texas Department of Public Safety is assisting local authorities with the investigation.
