On or about Thursday, December 9th, 2021, around 4:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and multiple passenger vehicles claimed the life of a 66-year-old man, and sent seven other individuals to the hospital. Troopers from the GSP said the accident was reported along the southbound side of Interstate 85 near the exchange with Senoia Road in Fairburn, Georgia.

Spokespeople from the Georgia State Patrol said 66-year-old Jerome Miller was killed, while seven other people were rushed to the hospital when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of several cars in stopped or slowed traffic on I-85. Emergency responders airlifted Miller to Grady Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Paramedics also transported seven other people to Grady Memorial with unspecified injuries.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 85 winds north and south through Fairburn, which is about 21 miles southwest of downtown Atlanta.

Officials are still investigating the crash.
