On or about Wednesday, December 29th, 2021, around 9:55 in the morning, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a box truck sent two individuals to the hospital. Deputies from the County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Highway 75 just outside Hull in Sioux County, Iowa.

Law enforcement representatives said 51-year-old Jerry Lee Hall and his passenger were injured when a tractor-trailer allegedly slammed into the back of the box truck they were in as they were passing beneath a railroad overpass. Hall and his passenger sustained unspecified injuries and sought medical attention on their own.

Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Eric Jay Van Meeteren, who was cited for following too closely in connection with the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about three miles northwest of Hull, which is about 242 miles northwest of Des Moines.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident.
