On or about Wednesday, October 21st, 2020, around 6:18 in the morning, an accident between an 18-wheeler and a car left a 62-year-old woman dead. Police stated that the accident happened on U.S 287/U.S 26 northwest of Dubois, Wyoming.

Law enforcement spokespeople said that 62-year-old Jo Anne Meeker was killed when a tractor-trailer driver allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and crossed from the eastbound lanes into her path. Meeker was pronounced dead from her injuries a short time after the collision.

Wyoming State Police indicated that this was the 110th fatality on the road in 2020.

Highway 287/26 runs east and westbound through the heart of Dubois, which is situated about 193 miles northwest of Cheyanne according to Google Maps.

State and local law enforcement are investigating.
