Details:
On or about Friday, October 22nd, 2021, an accident between a pedestrian and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 30-year-old Beaumont man. Deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported along Highway 96 in Lumberton, Texas.
Local law enforcement representatives said 30-year-old Jody Alexander Hampshire was killed when he was allegedly struck by a passing tractor-trailer while he was walking alongside or attempting to cross Highway 96. Emergency responders pronounced Hampshire dead of his injuries a short time after they arrived at the scene of the accident. Police did not mention any other vehicles.
According to Google Maps, Highway 96 runs north and south through Lumberton, which is about 97 miles east of downtown Houston.
Officials are still investigating the incident.
