On or about Monday, November 8th, 2021, around 2:40 in the afternoon, a major collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle sent a 71-year-old man to the hospital. Representatives from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Highway 287 in Hall County, Texas.

Authorities from the Texas DPS said 71-year-old Joe Lee Williams was injured when the Hyundai Elantra he was driving was allegedly struck from behind by a tractor-trailer when Williams slowed to make a turn. Officials said Williams’ car and the tractor-trailer had just merged in the moments before the collision. Emergency responders transported Williams to a nearby hospital in order to be treated for serious injuries stemming from the accident.

Police cited the driver of the tractor-trailer with failure to control speed in connection with the crash.

According to Google Maps, Hall County is about 114 miles northeast of Lubbock.

Authorities are still investigating the accident.
