On or about Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, around 6:15 in the morning, an accident between a tow truck driver and a FedEx tractor-trailer left one person dead and resulted in DUI charges for a truck driver. Troopers from the WSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 5 in Milton, Washington.
Law enforcement officials said 49-year-old Joe Masterson was killed when he was allegedly hit by a FedEx tractor-trailer as he was assisting with a tow on the side of Interstate 5. Emergency responders pronounced Masterson dead of his injuries after the accident. Police did not release the name of the FedEx tractor-trailer driver, but noted he was arrested on suspicion of DUI in connection with the accident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 27 miles south of downtown Seattle.
Authorities are still investigating.
