On or about Tuesday, November 9th, 2021, around 7:57 at night, an accident between a pedestrian and an SUV claimed the life of a 54-year-old man. Deputies from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported in the 6100 block of Menchaca Road in Austin, Texas.
Police officers said 54-year-old Joey Edwards was killed when he was allegedly hit by a passing Ford Explorer while he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross Menchaca Road. Paramedics rushed Edwards to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, November 22nd, 2021. Officers did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the incident.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is situated on the south side of Austin.
Police are still investigating.
