On or about Saturday, March 26th, 2022, around 10:42 at night, an accident between a passenger vehicle and a tractor-trailer left two people dead and sent another person to the hospital. Troopers from the GSP said the accident was reported along Interstate 75 near Albany, Georgia.

Representatives from the Georgia State Patrol said John and Alyssa Jewell-Barrett were killed and another person was critically injured when the tractor-trailer Alyssa and John were in allegedly slammed into the back of a passenger vehicle, rupturing the truck’s fuel tanks. After the initial accident, at least one of the vehicles burst into flames. Emergency responders pronounced John and Alyssa Jewell-Barrett dead of their injuries, while the driver of the passenger vehicle was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 75 cuts north and south through Albany.

Officials are still investigating the accident.
