Details:
On or about April 11th, 2021, around 10:10 in the morning, a major single-vehicle car accident left one man dead and sent another to the hospital. Authorities said the accident was reported along Highway 86 near the exchange with FM 1567 in Castro County, Texas.
Law enforcement officials said 53-year-old John Wheeler was killed and Leonard Williams was injured when the vehicle they were in allegedly drove off the side of Highway 86 and rolled. Wheeler died of his injuries a short time after the accident, while Williams was taken to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.
Officials later determined Wheeler had a BAC of .248 at the time of the accident.
