Details:
On or about Thursday, February 18th, 2021, around 4:30 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck left a 28-year-old LeRoy man dead. Spokespeople from the ISP said the accident happened on the eastbound side of Interstate 74 in Dewitt County, Illinois.
Authorities from the area said 28-year-old Jordan Reinhart-Smith was killed when an 18-wheeler allegedly slammed into his pickup truck that was stopped in the roadway after a collision with a barrier. Paramedics rushed Reinhart-Smith to a nearby hospital where he died of his injuries the following morning. Officials did not mention any other injuries in their initial statement.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident happened just outside Farmer City, which is situated about 139 miles south of Chicago.
Illinois State Police and officials from the area assisted at the scene of the accident.
