On or about Tuesday, August 31st, 2021, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a car claimed the life of one person. Police from the area said the accident was reported along Highway 80 in Phenix City, Alabama.
Investigator said Jordy Gonzales was killed when a car and a tractor-trailer collided under unspecified circumstances along Highway 80. Emergency responders rushed Gonzales to nearby Piedmont Columbus Regional where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival. Police did not mention any other vehicles in their initial statement on the incident.
According to Google Maps, Highway 80 runs east and west through Penix City, which is situated on the west side of Columbus.
Police are still investigating.
