Details:
On or about Saturday, February 5th, 2022, around 8:12 at night, an accident between a train and a pedestrian left one individual dead. Deputies from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office said the accident was reported on or near Whalen Road in San Benito, Texas.
Investigators said Jorge Daniel Solval was killed when he was allegedly struck by a train as he was walking alongside or made an attempt to cross the tracks on Whalen Road. Emergency responders pronounced Solval dead of his injuries a short time after the accident. Police did not mention any other injuries in their statement on the accident.
According to Google Maps, San Benito is about 258 miles south of downtown San Antonio.
Authorities are still examining the factors that may have led to the accident.
