On or about Tuesday, December 28th, 2021, around 7:30 in the morning, an accident between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer claimed the life of a 50-year-old man and sent two teenagers to the hospital. Authorities from the area said the accident was reported along Interstate 65 just outside Haynesville in Lowndes County, Alabama.

Officers said 50-year-old Jose L. Badillo was killed, while a 17-year-old and a 16-year-old were injured when the pickup truck they were riding in allegedly collided with the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of Interstate 65. Badillo and an as-of-yet unidentified 16-year-old occupant in the pickup were pronounced dead at the scene, while the 17-year-old driver was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. Officials identified the driver of the tractor-trailer as Arthur K. Williams, who was unhurt in the accident.

According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 5 miles east of Haynesville, which is roughly 23 miles southwest of downtown Montgomery.

Police are still investigating the incident.
