On or about Saturday, February 26th, 2022, around 9:30 at night, a major two-vehicle car accident left one person dead and sent two others to the hospital. Troopers from the Department of Public Safety said the accident was reported along Farm-to-Market Road 2221 in Hidalgo County, Texas.
Authorities from the DPS said Jose Gilberto Ayala was killed and two other people were injured when the vehicles they were in collided under unspecified conditions. Emergency responders pronounced Ayala dead of his injuries a short time after the accident, while two other people in the second vehicle were treated for unspecified injuries stemming from the accident.
