On or about Wednesday, December 16th, 2020, a chain-reaction accident with a tractor-trailer and a fuel truck killed one person and sent nine others to the hospital. Department of Public Safety Troopers said the accident happened along Interstate 20 just outside Stanton in Martin County, Texas.

Police said 37-year-old Jose Saenz was killed when a tractor-trailer, a fuel truck, a box van and a car collided in a chain-reaction accident. Saenz, who was driving the tractor-trailer, died of his injuries after the accident. Paramedics treated nine other people, including two children, were treated for unspecified injuries. Two of the victims were taken to the hospital by helicopter.

According to Google Maps, Interstate 20 is four lanes in the area, with a wide, grassy median dividing east and westbound traffic. Stanton is located about 310 miles west of Dallas.

Texas DPS and local law enforcement are investigating the crash.
