Details:
On or about Friday, January 7th, 2022, around 12:00 in the afternoon, an accident between a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle claimed the life of a 35-year-old man. Deputies from the Almeda County Sheriff’s Department said the accident was reported along Stewart Avenue at or near the intersection with Christy Street in Fremont, California.
Police officers from the area said 35-year-old Joseph O’Connell was killed when the passenger vehicle he was driving allegedly hit the back of a tractor-trailer that was parked along Stewart Avenue. Paramedics pronounced O’Connell dead of his injuries a short time after the accident, but it is not currently clear if he was pronounced dead at the scene, or if he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time after his arrival.
According to Google Maps, the scene of the accident is about 37 miles southeast of downtown San Francisco.
Police are still looking into the factors that may have contributed to the accident.
