Details:
On or about Saturday, January 22nd, 2022, around 2:00 in the morning, a serious two-vehicle accident with an alleged drunk driver left a 43-year-old man dead. Investigators said the accident was reported along State Highway 183 near Benbrook in Tarrant County, Texas.
Officials said 43-year-old Juan Perez was killed when the vehicle he was driving was allegedly rear-ended by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Raymond Hawkins on Highway 183. Emergency responders pronounced Perez dad of his injuries a short time after the accident, but it is not clear if he died at the scene or if he was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
Authorities have since charged Raymond Hawkins with intoxication manslaughter in connection with the accident.
Police are still investigating.
